ABOUT THE PEOPLE
At Missouri Valley we are just simple folks that enjoy life in a simple rural setting. Our area is a place where friends are about the most important things we have. It's a place where Christmas is still about Jesus and we stand and salute the flag when it passes.
I started carving as hobby 30+ years ago. Since then I have worked at honing my skills and my knifes. In the past I sold a few pieces but family and freinds claimed most. I decided to open this sight when freinds suggested I sell some of my work before the house filled up.
Some carvers find a theme that they love to work on like Wood Spirits or Santas. I have yet to discover one specific theme that I like more than another, so you might find just about anything here.What I have found is that I love to take a piece of wood that is in the firewood box and make an item of beauty or interest from it. Some times I paint my carvings, somtimes I stain them, other pieces just get a natural finish. This depends on whats been made; Santa Clause has to have color as do Carosel items, angels can go either way,Eagles look very good with a natural finish. Often I do the carving and my wife puts the finish on it. Since we are a family and share everything there is no seperate labling for differant works. Everything does have its own labeling and includes the artist mark or signature and a date.
We also have a craft section these are items that my wife has made she has always amazed me at how she take a pile of misc. stuff and ends up with some really neat things,old worn out christmas trees become amazing new wreaths or center piece for a table. A sack of plastic plants a beautiful door hanging.
We also display items from other freinds around us. All of the items are made right here, no import junk. Just local freinds working together to better enjoy our simple life. On our photo page we just want to share some of the beauty God gave us with all of you out there if you'r interested. These are all pictures from our camera no downloads from others.What we see is what you get.
